Nestled in a beautiful valley surrounded by rolling farmland, Maromaku School is located in the Far North, just 15km south of Kawakawa on the way to Whangārei. We pride ourselves on being a small school with a big heart, offering a peaceful and nurturing environment for our tamariki.

Position Type: Part-time, Fixed-term (0.4 FTE | 2 days per week)
Fixed-Term Reason: To deliver a targeted Numeracy/Literacy intervention support programme concluding at the end of the 2026 school year.
Term: Concluding on 18 December 2026
Start Date: Monday 20 July 2026 (Beginning of Term 3)

About Our School
Maromaku School is a vibrant, rural full-primary school nestled in the heart of our supportive Mid-North community. We pride ourselves on creating a nurturing, family-like environment where our students are encouraged to be confident, connected, and actively involved learners.

The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, collaborative, and NZ-registered teacher to join our dedicated team starting in Term 3, 2026. This is a 0.4 FTE position (2 days per week). The specific working days can be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Part-Time Cleaner – Permanent Position

Part-Time Cleaner – Permanent Position
Start Date: Monday, 20 July 2026 
Schedule: Monday – Friday (Hours to be negotiated)

Maromaku School is seeking an honest, reliable, and hardworking individual to join our team as a permanent, part-time School Cleaner. The primary purpose of this position is to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our staff, students, and visitors. 

Position Overview
Type: Permanent, Part-Time 
Hours: 6.15 hours per school week. 
Schedule: 4.15-5.30pm Monday to Friday (Term time only; hours do not apply during school holidays). 
Remuneration: $24.66 per hour, in accordance with the NZEI Caretakers and Cleaners Collective Agreement.

Responsible to: The Principal. 

Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will look after the daily and periodic maintenance of our school buildings, including: 

Daily Tasks: 

  • Vacuuming the staff room, main entrance, hallway, classrooms, and library, as well as emptying all rubbish bins.
  • Mopping and sanitising all toilet facilities (including the Hall toilets), cleaning hand basins, wiping staff room surfaces, and cleaning high-traffic windows and doors;
  • mopping vinyl classroom areas.  

Weekly/As-Required Tasks: Mopping vinyl classroom areas and replenishing hygiene supplies (toilet paper, soap, towels). 

Fortnightly Tasks: Dusting ledges, sills, and skirtings, and removing cobwebs within school buildings.

Person Specification
We are looking for someone who demonstrates the following qualities:

  • Punctual, reliable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • A respectful team player who interacts positively with staff, students, and the wider community.
  • Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality within the school environment.

Please Note: In accordance with the Education Act and the Children's Act, the successful applicant will be required to undergo and pass a satisfactory safety and police vetting check before employment is finalised. Parental consent is required for applicants under the age of 16 years old.

Interviews will be held on Thursday 16 July 2026, with an expected start date of Monday 20 July 2026, subject to satisfactory police vetting.
