Part-Time Cleaner – Permanent Position
Start Date: Monday, 20 July 2026
Schedule: Monday – Friday (Hours to be negotiated)

Maromaku School is seeking an honest, reliable, and hardworking individual to join our team as a permanent, part-time School Cleaner. The primary purpose of this position is to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our staff, students, and visitors.

Position Overview
Type: Permanent, Part-Time
Hours: 6.15 hours per school week.
Schedule: 4.15-5.30pm Monday to Friday (Term time only; hours do not apply during school holidays).
Remuneration: $24.66 per hour, in accordance with the NZEI Caretakers and Cleaners Collective Agreement.

Responsible to: The Principal.

Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will look after the daily and periodic maintenance of our school buildings, including:

Daily Tasks:

Vacuuming the staff room, main entrance, hallway, classrooms, and library, as well as emptying all rubbish bins.
Mopping and sanitising all toilet facilities (including the Hall toilets), cleaning hand basins, wiping staff room surfaces, and cleaning high-traffic windows and doors;
mopping vinyl classroom areas.

Weekly/As-Required Tasks: Mopping vinyl classroom areas and replenishing hygiene supplies (toilet paper, soap, towels).

Fortnightly Tasks: Dusting ledges, sills, and skirtings, and removing cobwebs within school buildings.

Person Specification
We are looking for someone who demonstrates the following qualities:

Punctual, reliable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
A respectful team player who interacts positively with staff, students, and the wider community.
Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality within the school environment.

Please Note: In accordance with the Education Act and the Children's Act, the successful applicant will be required to undergo and pass a satisfactory safety and police vetting check before employment is finalised. Parental consent is required for applicants under the age of 16 years old.
