Kaupapa at MS

Deep roots, high spirits, and a heart for our land

Nestled in the rolling Kawakawa farmland, Maromaku School is more than just a place of learning—it’s a home away from home. We are proud of our history and our vibrant, diverse community. From the moment our tamariki walk through the gate, we want them to see themselves reflected in our spaces and feel that they truly belong. Here, every child is valued, every culture is celebrated, and everyone has a seat at the table.

Our Learning, Our Way

Our curriculum isn’t just pulled from a book; it’s grown right here in our community. With Te Ao Māori and tikanga at its heart, we partner closely with whānau to ensure our teaching hits the mark. We are also honored to walk alongside Ngapuhi and Ngatiwai, our local iwi, keeping our connection to mana whenua and its stories strong.

Everything we do is built on the foundation of our three core values:

  • Whakaute – Respect
  • Manaaki – Kindness
  • Manawanui – Perseverence

The NZ Curriculum & Key Competencies

We provide a full, balanced education covering all eight essential learning areas: English, The Arts (Dance, Drama, Music and Visual Art), Health & Physical Education (P.E), Languages, Mathematics and Statistics, Science, Social Sciences, and Technology.

Rather than a "one size fits all" approach, our students progress at their own pace. We weave the Key Competencies—Thinking, Managing Self, Using Languages, Symbols and Texts, Relating to Others, Participating and Contributing—into daily life so our kids leave us ready for the future.
